In the Ram Temple donation theft case, hundreds of lawyers led by the President of the Faizabad Bar Association reached the SP City office on Thursday and submitted a written complaint seeking the registration of an FIR against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao. The lawyers also demanded a CBI and ED investigation into the matter.
Earlier, hundreds of lawyers led by Faizabad Bar Association President Kalika Prasad Mishra marched through the city to protest the lack of action against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao in the Ram Temple donation theft case. Accusing the police of protecting them, the lawyers also questioned the role of the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Kalika Prasad Mishra said that despite such stringent security arrangements, if such a large-scale alleged irregularity had occurred, it was also a failure of the police. He also demanded that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) intervene in the matter. He said, "This case involves such a large amount of money, and if the ED does not investigate it, then who will? In fact, the ED should have become active in this matter by now."
Kalika Prasad Mishra also demanded a CBI investigation into the entire case. He said, "We leave everything else to Lord Shri Ram, but this matter should be investigated by the CBI." He warned, "If the police do not register an FIR, then further action will be taken against those whose role is found to be suspicious. The law provides for everything."
Kalika Prasad Mishra said, "The police themselves are providing security to the people against whom allegations have been made. In such a situation, how can the police register an FIR against them? But if the complaint is not registered, we will continue to expose every irregularity." He stated that this complaint is completely separate from the FIR registered earlier. He said, "This will be our first FIR because it has no connection with the earlier case registered against eight accused persons. This time, complaints are being filed against different individuals."
The Bar Association President also questioned the FIR registered earlier. He said that there were serious doubts about the way the police had recorded the recovery of cash. The police recovered cash from ten different locations but showed it as a single recovery in the records.
He said this is a matter that requires investigation. He added that the complaint seeks the registration of an FIR against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and other members of the trust. He also indicated that additional names could be added during the course of the investigation.
