Ireland defeated the Indian team by 34 runs in the first match of the T20 series being played at the Civil Service Cricket Club. This victory is historic for Ireland. It is the first time Ireland has beaten the Indian team. Chasing a target of 183, India were bowled out for 148 in 18.5 overs.
India got off to a terrible start while chasing 183. Samson (5), Ishan Kishan (1), and captain Shreyas Iyer (3) were dismissed early. Abhishek Sharma was the only batter who looked comfortable playing in his usual aggressive style. He scored 50 runs off 20 balls, including 2 sixes and 7 fours.
Tilak Varma (19), Shivam Dube (25), and Axar Patel (15) failed to convert their starts into big innings. Losing wickets at regular intervals, India were eventually bowled out for 148 in 18.5 overs and lost the match by 34 runs.
For Ireland, Matthew Humphreys took 3 wickets, Matthew Hoolard claimed 3 wickets, and Jay Moondra picked up 2 wickets. Liam McCarthy and Gareth Delany took one wicket each.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Ireland posted 182/9. Ireland captain Tucker scored 50 runs off 36 balls, including 2 sixes and 5 fours. Gareth Delany also contributed 49 runs from 32 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 3 fours before getting out.
For India, right-arm fast bowler Harshit Rana bowled brilliantly, taking a team-best 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs. Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs. Shivam Dube took 1 wicket, conceding 18 runs in 3 overs. Washington Sundar had an expensive outing, giving away 19 runs in 1 over without taking a wicket.
Axar Patel took 2 wickets for 33 runs in his 4 overs. Right-arm fast bowler Prasidh Krishna was India's most expensive bowler, conceding 57 runs in his 4 overs without taking a wicket.
