Bhopal, Aug 21 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday directed the Chief Secretary to initiate immediate action to suspend the City Superintendent of Police (CSP) in Katni, taking serious note of a matter related to law and order.
The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said CM Yadav also directed that the matter be investigated impartially and that strict action be taken against those found responsible.
“Negligence, pressure or misuse of office at any level in matters related to law and order will not be accepted,” CM Yadav wrote in a post on X in Hindi.
He said the entire matter would be examined fairly and those found guilty would face strict action.
“The entire matter will be investigated impartially, and strict action will be ensured against the guilty,” he said. However, the CMO did not disclose details of the incident that led to the action against the Katni CSP.
The directive comes amid the state government’s emphasis on fixing accountability among officials and ensuring that complaints relating to public services and law and order are dealt with promptly.
CM Yadav had launched the Jan Vishwas Abhiyan from Chhindwara on August 7, under which he has been visiting districts to directly hear public grievances and review the functioning of government departments.
During the launch programme in Chhindwara, three revenue officials were suspended following complaints raised by people. A week later, during the second phase of the campaign in Barwani, seven more officials were suspended over alleged lapses in the discharge of their duties.
The action against the Katni CSP is the latest instance of the Chief Minister stressing accountability among officials while dealing with matters concerning the public.
The CMO said further action in the Katni case would be taken on the basis of the findings of the inquiry.
