Bhopal, Sep 1 (IANS) Congress MLA and former Madhya Pradesh Minister, Jaivardhan Singh, has questioned the accuracy of school education-related data published in a Madhya Pradesh government booklet and sought an enquiry into the figures.
Jaivardhan Singh has written to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's Office, to the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department and the Assembly Secretariat, seeking verification of the information published in the booklet '2 Years of Development and Service'. He has also sought action against officials if the data is found to be incorrect.
The booklet was distributed during a two-day Youth MLA Conference held in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on March 30 and 31, 2026.
According to Singh, it contains details of the state government's achievements and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's address.
Singh has specifically questioned information on page 59 relating to the School Education Department, particularly figures concerning students who benefited from laptop and scooter schemes during 2025-26.
"How could the department have information about students benefiting from these schemes for 2025-26 when the Class 12 examination results had not been declared by March 30-31?" Singh asked.
He sought details of the source and basis of the figures and demanded that the department make the relevant verification reports public.
Singh also questioned the Madhya Pradesh government's presentation of the state education system in the booklet, pointing to schools operating with either no teacher or only one teacher.
He said the shortage of teachers remained a serious challenge and should be considered while assessing the condition of school education in Madhya Pradesh.
The Congress leader also sought the basis for the booklet's claim that examination results improved in 2024-25 compared with 2023-24. "If the government is presenting figures as achievements, it should also make public year-wise examination results, pass percentages, the number of students and relevant departmental reports," he said.
Singh said any incorrect or unverified information in a publication carrying the Chief Minister's address and details of Madhya Pradesh government's achievements was a serious matter.
He demanded that the figures be examined and responsibility fixed if officials were found to have provided or published unverified information. The Madhya Pradesh government has not yet responded to Singh's allegations.
